These Celebrity Mansions Are So Luxurious, They Look Unreal
5. Gianni Versace
This opulent mansion in Miami Beach, once owned by the late fashion designer Gianni Versace, embodies both beauty and a tragic history. Versace was murdered on the steps of this very house in 1997. Today, this place is quite popular among tourists; besides taking photographs, visitors can also stay here overnight.
This former Versace home is now a luxury boutique hotel named ‘Villa Casa Casuarina’. Its unique feature is that the old royal design has been preserved alongside modern amenities. This haveli was built in 1930. Versace purchased the main house for approximately $2.95 million and the nearby Revere Hotel for around $3.7 million in 1992. After that, they spent around $32 million to give the property a new look. They had several small apartments converted into large, comfortable suites. The most striking feature of the haveli is its magnificent swimming pool, adorned with 24-carat gold tiles.
This property was auctioned for $41.5 million in 2013. Today, there are luxurious rooms for guests here, as well as a restaurant named ‘Gianni’s’ that serves Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. The original décor of Versace has been largely preserved. The Villa Suite here was her former room, while the Venus Suite is associated with her sister Donatella. Even today, this haveli is a unique blend of history, art, and luxury.
