7 Foods in Your Fridge You Should Throw Out Right Now
5. Broth or Stock
Making broth or stock from the bones while preparing chicken is a very common practice. But can you keep that broth safe? Once the broth is made, it should be consumed within four days. If you cannot consume it within four days, freeze it. It is best to use homemade broth stored in the refrigerator within 3 to 4 days. Store-bought broth can last for up to 4 or 5 days after opening.
Store-bought broth has an expiration date. This indicates how long it should be used. If the container has not been opened, it can be used for a long time after the date. The leftover broth should be stored in a sealed container.
If the broth smells bad or looks strange in color, it should be thrown away. There should be no cloudiness in the color of the broth. There is a layer of fat on the surface of the broth, if mold is visible in it then throw it away and do not store it in the refrigerator.
