Keep Your Favorite Scarves Soft and Pill-Free With These Tips
3. Freeze it
If you are annoyed by the lint or fuzz on your favorite scarf, or if it frequently collects dust, a simple solution can be very helpful. This method might sound a bit strange, but keeping a scarf in the freezer is beneficial. To do this, first fold your scarf neatly and place it in a clean Ziploc bag. After that, place the bag in the freezer overnight.
Due to cold temperatures, lint, hair, and tiny fibers adhering to the fabric's surface loosen up. The next morning, take the scarf out of the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes. Then, shake it off gently or clean it with a soft brush. Doing this will result in less fuzz appearing on the scarf compared to before.
Another major benefit of this method is that it helps reduce the static charge that builds up in clothes. Hair, dust, and lint easily stick to clothes due to static charge. Keeping it cold in the freezer resolves this problem.
To ensure your scarf lasts a long time and stays looking new, wash it properly, avoid vigorous rubbing, and dry it in the shade. These small precautions and the freezer trick help preserve the scarf's beauty for a long time.
